East Village Radio marks its fifth anniversary by debuting the East
Village Radio Music Festival at the South Street Seaport today. The
event is hosted by the legendary KRS-ONE and performance will include
Boris, Mark Ronson, Flying Lotus, High Places, Devin the Dude, Awesome
Color, Vivian Girls, Dr. Lonnie Smith, The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble,
Olof Arnalds, and John Oliver (of The Daily Show)! Free shuttle buses

The MLK Jr. Concert Series continues bringing live music to the BK masses tonight with special guest Jill Scott. Scott, a Philly native, is an artist with “an abiding, deep commitment to lyrical honesty and
musical integrity. Simply put, if Jill feels it, she writes and sings it. While vivid imagery, metaphor analogy are her stock in trade, there’s no pretense, no hiding. She’s upfront, in-your-face always real, using her own distinctive poetry to breathe life into words, digging inside to bring forth the accompanying emotion.” While it doesn’t say it on the site, I heard a rumor that Estelle may be joining her on stage today. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

On the heels of learning that in 1978 The Police recorded a Wrigley’s commercial, I found out that in 2008 Chris Brown, Julianne Hough and Ne-Yo will be updating Wrigley’s gum “jingles” for Doublemint®, Juicy
Fruit® and Big Red®. Today Chris and Julianne will perform some of their hit songs and as well as their new jingles, and all three will be on hand to celebrate the partnership and entertain the crowd of lucky fans. Concert hopefuls can line up at the above locations where the first 164 (2 Busloads of 82) fans in line at each location will be taken to the show.
